Exage is the top P4 rear drag model and exudes quality with a visually stunning metallic platinum and gold finish. Featuring 4 shielded ball bearings and a roller bearing, Exage utilises a multi-disk rear drag system for smooth progressive performance, and Fightin’ Drag for precise adjustable control when playing fish. Featuring a Cold Forged Aluminium Spool with AR-C line management that’s suitable for both mono and braid, and Varispeed line lay which prevents fine mono and braid bedding in under pressure. For match anglers there is also a high speed (6.2:1) 3000 shallow spool, double handle model that is perfect for float and feeder fishing.

 

ARC Spool: Shimano AR-C Spool is patented spool desgin with and angled spool lip. This design enables the line to leave the spool with less friction and in smaller coils resulting in longer more accurate casts. AR=C spools are proven to reduce backlash and wind knits when using braids.

Fightin Drag: A secondary drag system used on some rear drag reels. Fightin’Drag enables the easy adjustment of the drag setting whilst playing the fish.

Cold Forged Aluminium is used for some round reels, fly reels and is also used for many types of spool. MAde from one single piece of aluminium Cold Forging produces great strength.

XT-7 is the original Shimano composite reel material. Usedon mid-priced and budget reels and spools XT-7 is reliable, robust and lightweight.

Varispeed: Good quality line lay is the most important feature for precise, long and accurate casting. Shimano’s revolutionary “Varispeed” System consists of two specially designed gears. One is oval and the other a remarkable square shape! Only a special computer program developed by Shimano has been able to make these to shapes fit together perfectly – the result is perfect parallel line lay and improved fishing precision.

Super Stopper II: Super Stopper II eliminates the backword movement and free play in the handle when the reel is set in anti-reverse.

Dyna-Balance: Dyna-Balance reduces wobble during the retrieve by counter balancing the rotor to enhance sensitivity and smoothness. By using computer balancing Shimano are able to redistribute the rotor weight to eliminate vibations.
