The classy new Rarenium CI4+ has a body frame built from Shimano’s exclusive CI4+ composite. This reduces the weight dramatically compared to metal bodied reels, yet still retains the strength and stiffness required to ensure the internal gears retain their integrity when under pressure. The inclusion of a Magnumlite CI4+ rotor not only reduces weight further, it produces an ultra light rotation which improves the winding sensitivity, making the Rarenium CI4+ a superb lure fishing reel. All models combine Shimano’s exclusive X-Ship gearing with 6 Shielded A-RB bearings. This produces ultra smooth performance combined with maximum winding efficiency. The relatively slow 5.0:1 and 5.2:1 gear ratio delivers excellent torque for anglers fishing for larger species. Available in five sizes from the smallest 1000 size for finesse fishing with lightweight lures, to the largest 4000 model for heavier lure and feeder fishing or lightweight specimen fishing, the 3000 model has a shallow spool suitable for use with lightweight mono for float fishing or braid when predator or medium range feeder fishing. Part of the Shimano Lightweight Concept, the new Rarenium CI4+ combines ultra light weight feel with powerful winding performance making it one of the most versatile reels in the Shimano front drag range.
TECHNOLOGIES:
X-Ship is a combination of feature, that work together to create much greater efficiency. By positioning the pinion gear close to the centre line of the large diameter drive gear, more power is transfered from the handle to the rotor. The pinion gear is also supported by two Shimano A-RB roller bearings. This creates more stability.
S ARB: Shimano’s S A-RB bearings are high corrosion resistant A-RB ball bearings with an extra shield for improved protection against sand, salt or dust.
Hypergear: The precision engineered main Hypergear transmits more power from the handle to the rotor. Designed to exacting tolerances, it requires less effort, but returns more retrieve playing torque with castly reduced component wear.
ARC Spool: Shimano AR-C Spool is patented spool desgin with and angled spool lip. This design enables the line to leave the spool with less friction and in smaller coils resulting in longer more accurate casts. AR=C spools are proven to reduce backlash and wind knits when using braids.
Waterproof Drag: Using special protection gaskets, the drag is protected against the intrusion of water for more consistent drag performance.
CI4+ is an advanced version of the original CI4. The highly technical material is 2.5 times stiffer than CI4 and is used on many high-end Shimano reels to increase weight savings. The use of CI4+ for the body and rotor also delivers remarkable stiffness for better reel efficiency.
Rapid Fire Drag allows anglers to change the drag cam on the reel withing seconds. This system changes the drag curve on the reel to cater to specific techniques or fisheries. Reels equiped with the Rapid Fire system come standart with a Long Range Special (LRS) curve and up to 7 other Rapid Fire cams are available as accessories.
Cold Forged Aluminium is used for some round reels, fly reels and is also used for many types of spool. MAde from one single piece of aluminium Cold Forging produces great strength.
One Speed Oscillation: The spool moves at a consistent speed.
Aero Wrap II: Aero Wrap and the advanced Aero Wrap is a worm gear oscillation system with a specially designed pitch to create optimal oscillation speeds. This provides superb uniform line lay to reduce loss of energy during the cast. Aero Wrap II is considered one of the best line lay systems in the world.
Easy maintenance is a small oil lubrication port the enables direct lubrication of the inner workings of a reel with approved Shimano lubricant. Some highend Shimano reels have a line roller lubrication option.
Floating Shaft II: The key friction area on most fixed spool reels is where the spool drive shaft meets the pinion. Shimano designers have overcome this by reducing a large percentage of surface area contact and incorporating bearings on either side of the shaft. The resultant desing leaves the shaft in a ‘floating’ position, considerably improving efficiency and longevity.
Super Stopper II: Super Stopper II eliminates the backword movement and free play in the handle when the reel is set in anti-reverse.
Dyna-Balance: Dyna-Balance reduces wobble during the retrieve by counter balancing the rotor to enhance sensitivity and smoothness. By using computer balancing Shimano are able to redistribute the rotor weight to eliminate vibations.
One Piece Bail: The one-piece bail wire has no gap for line to snag on during normal operation. Made of Stainless Steel, it reduces friction and allows the line to get onto the line roller quicker.
Power Roller: The special grooved design of the Shimano Power Roller significantly reduces line twist and is a bih advantage when using thin monofilament and braid.
